Specialized Programs
We offer a variety of year-round English Plus Programs for Adults (ages 17+) and a wonderful summer program for the youth (ages 12-17). We have partnered with the community to offer exceptional activity based classes. Some of our adult classes are;

Caring Homestay Families
Living with a Canadian homestay family is a great way to learn about Canadian culture, and improve your English. Our homestay families are carefully screened, inspected, and monitored by our Homestay Coordinator. Our families are friendly and care about international students. The homes are conveniently located near bus routes or within walking distance of the school. We offer four choices with our homestay program: Executive, Standard, Dormitory, and Farmstay.

School Facilities
The school is located in a new building across the road from the local airport. It has easy access to stores, restaurants, and the ocean. Our facility includes a computer lab with free Internet access, student lounge, and lunch room with kitchen.

Powell River
Located on the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia with a population of 13,000, Powell River is a safe and welcoming community with very few international students - it is the perfect place to be immersed in English, culture and adventure.

GENERAL ENGLISH
You will learn and practice all the skills you need to understand and communicate in English – listening, speaking, reading, writing, pronunciation, as well as vocabulary, idioms, and grammar. You will be taught “real” English and how to use common phrases and words in the right situation. You will gain increased confidence in various social settings.
Full-time – 20 hours/week 8:45-2:00
Intense – 25 hours/week 8:45-3:10

Work Experience for Teachers
This program has been specifically designed for individuals who are Elementary or High School English Language teachers in their home country. It has been developed to give teachers the opportunity to work in a classroom environment learning new teaching techniques and activities that they can use in their own classroom. This program has been developed by teachers for teachers.

IELTS Test Preparation
Our IELTS Preparation course has been designed to prepare you to successfully complete the IELTS examination. This course focuses on each of the four modules of the IELTS test and will discuss strategies to better prepare for the final examination. This test is intended for candidates planning to use English for academic purposes or for immigration purposes.
TOEFL Test Preparation
Good for Students who would like to improve their TOEFL score and who are interested in a college style class that will prepare them for further studies at college or university.

Summer and Winter Programs for Youth (6-17 years old)

Family Summer/Winter Program
Parents attend adult classes while teenagers take part in the Westwind Variety Pack Summer Program or Winter Program. Families live together with a host family or a self-arranged accommodation.
